Interview and Promotion on Megan Cashman’s Site

I have a guest spot on a fellow writer’s blog today. The writer’s name is Megan Cashman. We met (on-line, that is—we’ve never met in person) a couple years back on one of my previous blog tours. Anyway, she offered to do a promotion for me when I released my latest book, The Sceptre of Morgulan, back in November 2015. Unfortunately, at the time I lost the email amidst the chaos of events and never replied. When I finally discovered my mistake—about a month ago—I dropped her a line to apologize and she offered again. Which is way cool of her. Anyway, she’s agreed to promote my books on her site. The promotion should last one week or so. The books in question include my series From the Ashes of Ruin. The series starts with the prequel, Drasmyr, continues with The Children of Lubrochius and then The Sceptre of Morgulan. My series is primarily a fantasy story, but it does have strong horror elements running through it. Specifically, it features a gothic-style vampire much more in the line of Bram Stoker’s Dracula than Stephanie Meyers Twilight. My vampire is evil and diabolical. You wouldn’t want to date him. There are also a number of demons scattered throughout the series, so there is that dark element as well.

Anyway, you can find my promotion on Megan Cashman’s site here: http://wp.me/p2q6dm-lM

Please go check it out and lend her your support. You’ll also be able to find the coupon codes on the bottom of the page for a promotion running simultaneously on Smashwords. If you use both codes, you’ll save six dollars. SIX DOLLARS! WOO HOO! (And spend only $2) Anyway, check it out and leave a comment.

Behold: The Updated New Cover for “Drasmyr”

I’ve been wanting to update the cover of my first novel, Drasmyr, for quite some time. I finally got around to it just this past week or so. If you want to let me know what you think about the new cover, contact me on Twitter: @MatthewDRyan1 . If you wish to purchase the novel in ebook form, click here; or in pbook form, click here (It may be a few days before I upload the new cover to lulu, though). Here are the two covers side by side:

Drasmyr, The Novel

The Original Cover.

DrasmyrRevised

The New Cover.

As you can see, I merely added a few things. I liked the original cover, but I always felt it lacked something. With only the building really being visible on it, it was difficult to figure just what the story was about. You could tell it was meant to be sort of creepy, but that’s about it. And also there is the blood-like writing. That effectively sets a tone, but in my view, having seen it listed next to other covers many times on-line, it looked a little sloppy or even amateurish sometimes. Particularly because it didn’t convert well to thumbnail pics. The blood was unclear and served only to confuse the writing making it difficult to read when small.

As far as the new pic is concerned, I am quite pleased. The female vampire adds some body to the pic, and the sinister cloud vampire does the same. Deciding on the correct pic for the cloud vampire was really a struggle. We went through a number of different options. The first designs involved human-like vampires, but eventually we started experimenting with the cloud. We added a face. Blurred the face. Then emphasized the eyes. And the wolf was a nice add on, too. Overall, I think it makes a much better cover.

So, I’m just doing this private Cover Reveal on my own site and nowhere else to reveal it for the first time. You should feel privileged to view it. Oooh. Ahhh. 🙂

Again, if you want to let me know what you think about the new cover, contact me on Twitter: @MatthewDRyan1 .

Announcement: An Upcoming Redesigned Cover Reveal

I’ve been wanting to update the cover of my first novel, Drasmyr, for quite some time. I finally got around to it just a few weeks ago. I’ve been holding back on revealing it for a number of reasons. The main one was that I was quite busy and needed to launch my novel The Sceptre of Morgulan. Now, however, things have calmed down a bit and I can get back to my new cover for Drasmyr. So, with that in mind, I would like to announce that I will reveal the redesigned cover for Drasmyr on this site only on December 14th, 2015.

So, stay tuned. I really like the new pic. It’s not a complete abandonment of the original cover, but I believe it is an improvement. The reveal will include a twitter campaign at the same time—one of my own and one of Goddess Fish Promotions.
